Redesign Silchester Road Traffic

That the Chief Executive would plan to review and redesign the junction of Metals and Silchester Road to provide safe and continuous cycling infrastructure for all directions, including cyclists proceeding straight through Silchester Road from the crossing to Silchester Park; address the unsafe and unclear cycle crossing between Silchester Road and Silchester Park; assess and rectify the current “yield-yield” system, which is causing significant delays and confusion for one side; install appropriate speed limit signage and consider traffic calming measures in Silchester Road; and provide a report on actions taken or proposed at the Area Meeting within two months.

12 June 2026: Site visit carried out with council engineers and local residents.
28 July 2026: Engineers proposed double yellow lines at both entrances to prevent parking and agreed to reconsider the junction design.
30 July 2026: The Active Travel Team confirmed they are reviewing the proposed design and potential improvements.
