Kill Avenue Gully Cleaning

Type: Motion

Status: Completed

Cllr Thomas Joseph made a motion requesting the clearing of gully blockages in the following areas along Kill Avenue: Birch Grove, Rose Park, Rory O’Connell Park, and Ashgrove. This motion passed and the reply is the following: "Gully maintenance is carried out regularly across these areas. However, we do encounter challenges in certain locations due to parked vehicles obstructing access to the gullies. This can delay or prevent cleaning in those specific spots. It is also important to note that many of the gullies in the area are of the older, shallow design. These are more prone to blockages compared to the newer, deeper models, which are designed to handle debris and water flow more effectively. This difference in design contributes to recurring issues in some locations despite regular maintenance. The DLRCC Cleansing Section will arrange for these locations to be reviewed again and will clear any gully blockages if required. We are happy to engage with the local Ward Councillors
and Residents Associations with respect to coordinating the removal of cars (if required) to assist us in this task."
